Brief overview of role

Reporting to the Coordination manager, the Resource Advisor plays a key role in supporting the OGA Operations directorate to affect a material change in UKCS resource maturation, supporting the drive to increase activity and performance and regulate effectively.

The role offers a unique insight into performance across the UKCS and the opportunity to influence and promote lessons learned and best practices across the entire E&P lifecycle. The role will provide internal functional support to the Operations directorate teams, supporting tier reviews, technology application and decommissioning activities. In addition, the role will provide support to ensure focus and prioritization with Industry through the implementation of the Stewardship expectations.

The candidate will have to demonstrate a broad range of experience across the E&P lifecycle and will be credible in liaison with senior leaders in industry.

Detailed job description and key responsibilities

  • UKCS portfolio reserves and resources insights, consistent with SPE PRMS technical basis
  • Deliver and maintain an assured UKCS production, cost and schedule estimates for projects, assets and exploration opportunities including data validation of the small pools inventory. (PARS)
  • Bringing focus to the OGA activities on resource maturation, supporting implementation of key levers for OGA teams and Area plans
  • Embedding Stewardship expectations and ensuring a coordinated approach across Operations
  • Improve and maintain all operations guidance and processes in OGA for consistency and efficiency of approach.
  • Interfacing and maintaining relationships with other Regulators to ensure consistency across HSE and BEIS
  • Lead the operation aspects of CCS, including license and permit applications for all projects
  • Represent OGA at relevant conferences, forums and committees (e.g. SPE, DEA, OGUK)
  • Participate in Tier 2 and 3 stewardship meetings with Operators

Specialist Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Licenses, Memberships or Language

Essential Desirable
• Will have a solid foundation in a senior role in Upstream Oil and Gas Industry preferable in a leadership/management role with deep insight into the drivers for resource maturation
• Clear and effective communication (written and oral) including preparation of external reports
• Ability to translate information into insights and knowledge and communicate OGA needs effectively
• Passion and enthusiasm for delivering change
• Self-starter and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a structured and collaborative way
• Degree qualified in engineering or earth science
• An extensive knowledge of SPE-PRMS reserves guidelines
• It is expected the successful candidate will have at least 10 years of experience including interfaces with supply chain, subsurface, well construction design and operations and commercial activities.
• Experience of multiple operators or basins
• Knowledgeable and experienced in petroleum economics
